Graceling meets Beauty and the Beast in this sweeping fantasy about one girl's journey to fulfill her destiny and the monster who gets in her way-by stealing her heart.

Based on the classic fairy tale Beauty and the Beast, Cruel Beauty is a dazzling love story about our deepest desires and their power to change our destiny.

Since birth, Nyx has been betrothed to the evil ruler of her kingdom-all because of a foolish bargain struck by her father. And since birth, she has been in training to kill him.

With no choice but to fulfill her duty, Nyx resents her family for never trying to save her and hates herself for wanting to escape her fate. Still, on her seventeenth birthday, Nyx abandons everything she's ever known to marry the all-powerful, immortal Ignifex. Her plan? Seduce him, destroy his enchanted castle, and break the nine-hundred-year-old curse he put on her people.

But Ignifex is not at all what Nyx expected. The strangely charming lord beguiles her, and his castle-a shifting maze of magical rooms-enthralls her.

As Nyx searches for a way to free her homeland by uncovering Ignifex's secrets, she finds herself unwillingly drawn to him. Even if she could bring herself to love her sworn enemy, how can she refuse her duty to kill him? With time running out, Nyx must decide what is more important: the future of her kingdom, or the man she was never supposed to love.

Why I Want It:

Just take a moment and look at the cover.

It’s okay.

I’ll wait.

Have you fully absorbed the beauty that is that cover? Because I haven’t. I think I want to get a giant poster of it and hang it on my wall.

But beyond that cover is a synopsis that promises to be Debz next favorite book of all time. It’s Beauty and the Beast, with a touch of Bluebeard (or so I’ve heard) and mythology. My heart is literally racing as I’m typing this. I’d literally trade my right arm to have this book right now. You don’t think Harper Collins would accept that trade, do you?

Coming to a bookstore near you… January 28th 2014 from Balzer &Bray

What are you Wishing for this Wednesday?

  1. Ahh, I am SO EXCITED for this book. Like.. ahhhh. I want it now! That cover is gorgeous (I'd totally be up for this cover as a poster on my wall!), and the synopsis? Sounds even BETTER. I just love the idea behind it.

Perhaps HarperCollins would accept if we both traded our arms? I'd throw in a foot too. ;)

    Lovely pick, Debz! <3

I love comments, and I promise I read every single one. I do my best to reply to all your meaningful comments, so come back in a couple days to see if I have! And if you see that I've responded to others comments and not yours, it's just because I've been struck dumb by your awesomeness! And if you leave me a link to your blog, I'll try to stop by and comment!

This is an award and tag-free zone! I'm honored, but I don't have the time to pass it along )=
